About Grace Center, Inc.

Grace Center, Inc is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization operating a food pantry for Clear Creek Township, Indian Creek Township, and Polk Townships in Monroe County, Indiana.  We also provide activities and events for these areas in order to facilitate community unity.

Our history

In 2006, Grace Center, Inc. received a grant from the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County to help this rural community area. The grant funded two separate missions: the Grace Center Food Pantry and Grace Center's community activity programs.

First, the grant provided startup funds for Grace Center Food Pantry, which opened in late 2006. The pantry currently operates on some grant funds and independent community donations and serves the Indian Creek, Clear Creek and Polk townships of Monroe County, IN.

Second, the grant made it possible to offer community programs and events to the entire community of Harrodsburg and surrounding areas such as Springville and Judah.  The events took place at the Harrodsburg Community Center.  Although the grant helped with general operating costs and materials, future programs will depend on individual support to keep them going.

Finally, Grace Center, Inc. is not a faith-based organization.  The word grace was chosen for all the many definitions of the word: timely help, good will, an act of kindness—there are so many.  We hope that the word grace can inspire good will and kindness in the persons we serve and interact with during programs.  Grace Center hopes to build strength and unity within the rural area that we serve.
